Camel Land Rover

Commission card for a friend, combining a Camel Landrover with being a builder :) I went with a colour theme and then chose elements to fit in!

Background paper made with (google-image) building plans layered (via PSP) onto a white background and printed out. Then I coloured it with distress inks and flicked water droplets on it. Glossy accented the windows in the Landrover to finish off.

The Font for the sentiment is "Coffin Nails". Read more about the Camel Trophy here.

Second September Challenge!

Second challenge of the month on The Crafty Addicts Challenge Blog! The theme is "Anything Goes or Patterned Papers". Sponsor this time is the wonderful Digistamps4Joy offering a $10 voucher.

I have used the image "Dream" by Digistamps4 Joy, and she was fab to colour. I cut out the letters in the stamp and layed different papers under them, for a paper-piece effect.

Papers from the Grace Taylor Home Sweet Home 12x12 pad.
Polychromo Pencils on Kraft Card.
Flowers from Wild Orchid.

Frenchie!

Had a fun order from a customer to make a first birthday card for her French Bulldog. He is called Ted :) I used an outline of a frenchie, masked it off and used Gansai Tambi Watercolour Paints to make a background, washing around and flicking.

I ended up cutting out the masked area and layering the image onto black card. Added a hand drawn banner and some Shimelle enamel stars. Card blank was gold to match some of the gold watercolour I used for the flicking, shows up better in real life :)

Card for my BIL

Did a little watercolour picture from a photo of my nephew Riley and thought I would convert it into a birthday card for my brother-in-law (his Dad!). It was actually quite hard work making a card and leaving it so the painting could be removed if they wanted to keep it! (That's if they recognise it's meant to be him, lol!).

Close up of the watercolour.

Set of paper were from "Making Cards" magazine, a long time ago, but they've been a really useful boy set! Stars from Prima and Papermania. Font is "Breamcatcher" one of my fav fonts.

FIL Birthday Card!

Quick post to show you the card I made (and a spare) for my FIL back in August :) I wanted to use the new die I had from IO - DIE186-G, which is a plane and banner die.

I cut a cloudy edge from scrap card and used faded jeans distress ink and a blender tool to make a repeat mask for the sky. I then cut 6 red, then 6 white planes using the die, and cut the central section from the white and placed on top of the red, then added wheels and propellers in pen. I printed out the greetings and then die cut them using the banner die. They were 3D foamed onto the sky, which I matted onto red, and then onto the card blank.

Something a bit different..

This card was a customer request via Etsy. He had found the perfect card, but couldn't find it for sale anywhere (neither could I) so I made him a similar looking version.

Font is called 3Dumb, I printed it out on the computer and 3D foamed it onto the 7x5 card blank. Added some bling in the corners. Inside I used the musical score of the song "Anything Else But You" from the soundtrack of the film Juno. The words on the front of the card are part of the lyrics.

Guild Wars 2

Another commission card today, and this time the theme was "Guild Wars 2", which if like me, you are not down with the kids, you might need to know is an on line role playing game :) Because I don't know much about it, I went with a safe option, to use the dragon image that is in the games logo.

I digitally traced/contoured the image and then added text to the file. I printed it out onto hammered cardstock (looks like watercolour paper) and then used distress inks like watercolours to fill in the dragon shape. I added red enamel bling and then 3D foam mounted it onto a 6x6 blank card.

Challenge 24 on the Crafty Addicts Blog!

Back again with another inspiration card. It's Challenge 24 on the Crafty Addicts Challenge Blog and this time the theme is Funny/Anything Goes.

Awesome sponsor this time - Dr. Digis House of Stamps! Offering two free stamps to the winner!

I have done one of the Dr.Digi stamps I won earlier in the year, I love him, he is fabulous, he is Mobility Malcolm!

Unsurprisingly, he is polychromos on kraft card! With some added enamel bling from the stash. Font is Impact Label.

The September Challenge!

Challenge 11 on the Crafty Addicts Facebook Group goes live today! Theme this time is, as normal, Anything Goes, and the optional option (lol, going to leave that in!) of "Use Glitter". Sami Stamps is the sponsor this time, she has some amazing images, you'll be hard pressed to choose if you win! She's giving away a $12 gift card to the winner!

I chose to use the image "With You" from Sami Stamps for my DT inspiration card. I needed an image for an Anniversary Card and I thought it would be nice change from hearty type pictures!

I tried doing some distress ink blending on kraft card, and then cosmic shimmer mist over the top to get a watery effect. I masked off the image and text whilst I played with the ink. Font is "Little Lord Fontleroy". I added some sequins around the image (kind of wanting it to look rainy?) and then made the umbrella out of two glitter card stocks. The flowery one I have had since the beginning of time, must have been one of the first things I bought when I started to make cards and FINALLY I have used it on a project, lol. Image is unsurprisingly coloured with polychromos... the waxy finished meant it resisted the ink that made it through my masks really well!

Captain America and the Mooning Minions.

Just want to share this quirky card I made :) I am completely pro-Minions, I know the over exposure has been vast and belligerent... but I still love them! Not so sure about Chris Evans as Captain America... hope this looks like him though! :)

Minions and Captain America hand drawn and coloured in Copics. 8 x 8 Easel Card.  The paper is from the DCWV  12″X12″ All About Boys Stack. Not sure what I'm going to do when it runs out, it's got to be one of the best investments I ever made! :) Added gem bling, Papermania Star Bling, Icicle Stickles and Glossy Accents. Images all 3D foam mounted onto card.

I used a couple of Captain America images, morphed into a combo image. The tattoo style layout inspiration comes from Artwork by Tim Shumate, (Fabulous work, check him out?) but I'm unsure about the "Captain America Needs You" style poster so can't credit. I'd like to have better art karma and link back to inspirational sources if possible.

Hunkydory!

I know some people think using kits is cheating, but sometimes it's just so nice to have lots of lovely elements to use with little fuss!

This card is made using Hunkydory's Feathered friends. Another commissioned card for someone that likes flowers and gardening.

I constructed a standard easel card and then used the kit to create the main parts of the card.
Ribbon and enamel bling from stash and flowers from QVC.
I had to include two cats, so I popped them behind the greeting,  just poking their heads out!

Guitar paint job :)

My friend Mike asked me to paint some images onto his old electric guitar to give it a bit of revamp! He chose lots of images that were meaningful to him (at least 100 in the end!) and I then collaged them together. These were the initial mockup pics.

After a few adjustments I began to sketch them onto the guitar body. (Mike had already sanded and primed the body, as well as removing all the neck and hardware.)

Adding the background colour. (We've decided it might be better to spray paint the background colour if we do it again!)

The first go at the details in white and dark blue.

 Finished front and sides!

And I did exactly the same process with the back. Here is the finished back and sides!

I then passed it back to Mike to laquer/wax. He kindly sent me this pic for that part of the process!

And finally here is all put back together, except for the strings! (hopefully have a picture to add soon with them on too!)

Really fun project and glad it looks so awesome now it's done! Hope to have some more photos to add of the finished result! Bit of a learning curve with this project, but I would love to have another go soon :)

Tool Pop Up Box

Another commission card for a new customer. Thought I would do a few different styles to test out what she would like. Using the basic pop up box card from Every Crafts A Pound.

Papers: Simply Creative 6x6" My Guy.
Stamps : Viva Decor, My Paper World - Old fashioned design and Vintage Tools.
Bling from Papermania.
Font: Ambrosia

Not done a lot of yellow and black cards and I like how this turned out. Stopped it looking too bitty by keeping everything within the colour scheme I think.
