Kidnapping Michael Bublé

Just want to share with you a very specific card I made for a long time customer. Love making her orders, they are always crazy in the best way.  

 Let me assure you now, the design request was very long and thorough, and all choices from this point were to fit the brief!

I drew and then coloured the main image with copics. Yes, she had kidnapped The Bublé!

I masked off an area of my background and used peel offs like mini-stencils to create all the jewellery coming from the exhaust.

I then used distress oxides to cover the whole background. Then I made a stencil for a New York skyline but including the Avengers HQ building. I used black distress oxide over the stencil. To set the ink I sprayed it all with a fine mist of water.

I then 3D foam mounted the motorbike over the top and began adding lots of different bling to parts of the card. I also printed out a 50th moon so I could add the age to the card front.

I made the card up into an easel card. I used some online images to create a blue starry background and another New York Skyline for the inner. I raised the greeting on 3D foam so the topper could hook behind it.

And job done! Was going to glossy accent the glasses but forgot, oops! Hope they customer likes it. I am not sure if she returns it quite who I can give it to, lol.

More Penguins!

Catch up post with another Penguiny card idea I used for my christmas cards in 2019, this time using the Woodware Clear Stamps - Penguin Parade.

I did some DL easel cards for my commissioned cards, here are two of them! I swapped papers and cardstock for them but the main layout stayed the same.  I used up old stock from the stash, I think most were magazine freebies, even the ribbon!

Font is Freehand 575 BT. Penguins were coloured with copics and then I added glossy accents and stickles. Bling also from the stash.

Quick easel card using the Hunkydory, How does your garden grow, craft stack.

I actually purchased this stack quite recently, on first glance it seemed filled with ideas and potential but on reflection, it's only really useful for a particular style of card, and doesn't really match other things I have for gardeny cards. In most cases, the pop outs are foiled, and it's really hard to match foiled items with non-foiled. This gardening apron is one of the few non-foiled toppers. Not worth the purchase price, but you live and learn!

Second Wedding Card

I made two cards for the couple getting married last weekend, here is the second one. I went for white on white, my first time! I combo'd alot of dies to make this!

So, the main part of the easel is a huge combo of dies, on some textured background papers ( hard to see!). The flowers are mainly from Wild Orchid. The two doves top right are wooden laser cuts, painted. The pearls are from the stash. The ribbon is a white version of the cream ribbon we used on their actual wedding invites. (Off ebay).

As you can tell, it was super hard to get a good photo, but here it is laid flat. Its 20cm x 20cm, so pretty large!

Inside the card, to make the rest for the easel to latch onto, I cut out three dogs, also in white, two Frenchies and a Pug! Their dogs are called Esmae, Bert and Ted! More lace and flowers as above.

Love these new Grace Taylor Papers!

Commissioned card I made back in June for a friend. The recipient loves German Shepherds, so I had to include one. I love these new papers by Grace Taylor ( Home Sweet Home, 100 Sheet Paper Kit, 12x12) that I got recently from a fair.

Completely straight forward easel card with matting and layering and Wild Orchid flowers. Font is Apple Butter.

Hunkydory!

I know some people think using kits is cheating, but sometimes it's just so nice to have lots of lovely elements to use with little fuss!

This card is made using Hunkydory's Feathered friends. Another commissioned card for someone that likes flowers and gardening.

I constructed a standard easel card and then used the kit to create the main parts of the card.
Ribbon and enamel bling from stash and flowers from QVC.
I had to include two cats, so I popped them behind the greeting,  just poking their heads out!

Pencil, Paper, Piece of String...

A commissioned easel card with a Girl Guide Theme. The customer wanted the "Pencil, paper, piece of string, 10p, hanky, drawing pin" motto included.

I couldn't work out what kind of coin would be needed for a phonecall in a phone box fifty years ago, so I went with something generic! :) This is a standard easel card, using papers from Grace Taylor's 12x12 Home Sweet Home pack. Flowers from Wild Orchid.

Kanban Beside The Sea Collection

A very kind friend  ( Thanks Grace! :)) liberated part of her stash for me and it was all from a lovely collection by Kanban called "Beside the Sea". Although I actually had it on the pretext of putting it towards my very-long-running-altered-art-seaside-project I thought it would be nice to make a commissioned card for a long term customer who wanted something seascape-ish!

I used to really love Kanban things when I first started crafting and could regularly pick up bargains from the QVC shop in Shrewsbury. It's all such lovely quality, and although sometimes people's foiling can be rather brash and brassy, Kanban foiling is really nice!

I'm not sure what this card fold is called, but the main card is 22.5 cm x 15 cm with a valley fold at 7.5 cm. The smaller card inside (10cm x 10cm), faces the wrong way round and you glue it in the centre of the back piece. Hope that is explained well enough? I normally put the message inside the smaller centre card, and a place to write your own greeting on the inside of the front small flap, or if there is room, on the left hand side of the card hidden by the 7.5 cm by 15cm flap. There are images inside the flap on this card too.

If you want a diagram of how this card works let me know and I will gladly draw one.

Talking of handy diagrams... I found this on pinterest the other day... it's a set of miniature  instructions for how an easel card works! I normally draw one to include with my card but this would be super handy. Going to print it and cut one out every time I need one. Easel cards are not common sense, even very bright people have been baffled by them....;)

Gorjuss Tszujing?

Did anyone else sucumb to the offer at The Range for three new Gorjuss Girl stamps for ten pounds?

I couldn't resist! Plus my friend Grace bought me the "The Hatter" for my birthday and it just made me want more! This stamp is called "Sweet Tea" and was very simple to colour, so-much-so that I think I might do something completely different with it next time and perhaps some paper piecing might tszuj it up! ( No, I'm not sure how you spell it, but I'm not letting that stop me!)
