Hen Pecked Hamish

Lovely sunny day in Shropshire, not raining, cat on the windowsill, coffee at hand and because it's Friday, a new Dr.Digi DT project! This is poor old Hen Pecked Hamish!

I had a good think about what he might have done wrong and decided by the look on his face he probably wasn't being enthusiastic about his birthday! Here is what the digistamp looks like (before I added text and a border) -

And here is my version of it -

As normal it's polychromo pencils on kraft card with a spot of white posca paint. The text is made using a font called Impact Label.

Background paper and the piece on the card is from Making Cards Magazine (April 2018) and the topper is mounted with 3D foam tape.

Thanks for joining me on this sunny Friday and I think you might enjoy a little look round the shop this morning? Whilst sunning yourself?

No.1 Digistamp!

Hi all! I hope you have been enjoying the Dr.Digi's House of Stamps 7th birthday celebration on the Facebook Page? I am happy to finally post my inspo for this week and also share that the No.1 best selling digi of all time is Weekend Walter!

Here is the final Top 7!

#7 Knitty Nora
#5 Hole in one Hal
#4 Mobility Malcolm
#3 Dunderton Decorators
#2 Anglin' Andy
#1 Weekend Walter

And here he is! Fully prepped for a relaxing weekend!

Here he is in the shop -

And here is my version of him -

I coloured him with polychromos and added a few details, like stubble, hairy chest, borrowed ladies diaphanous leopard print dressing gown.... basically I had a thoroughly good time dressing him in animal prints, lol!

I used this fabulous backing paper from Making Cards Magazine (May 2019) and mounted the topper with some 3D foam tape. No embellishments this time, I thought he paper was busy enough. Added some white posca paint to the eyes to finish.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope you guessed Weekend Walter and can look forward to an awesome prize from Dr.Digi's soon! Check the facebook page to see how you got on?

Planner card!

My friend asked me to make a card for her incredibly busy Mother! Her diary is always chocker. Telling her to slow down and take it easy on her birthday is very ironic!
I replicated a hypothetical week in her diary and made that into the topper for my card. (I have removed a few of the more personal details if you spot a weird gap!)

I designed the diary in Paint Shop Pro on the computer and then printed it out for the card. I used a free diary template as my project base.
I layered a couple of pages behind and raised the topper with some 3D foam at the edges to give it the dimension of an open book.

Popped some ribbon in the middle as a "book mark".
Printed some sentiments out too using October Twilight Font.
Found a new pen in an online shop and printed out the picture of it to add as an embellishment.
The stars are from Paperchase and I added some glitter to them.

Debbie's Donkey Derby!

Hi Friends :) It's another Dr.Digi friday and I am bringing you the newly released Debbie's Donkey Derby

So I wanted to make her have a flavour of the English seaside and detract from poor Diego the donkey having a really rough day. I think Debbie thought that galloping on a donkey along the beach might soothe her rather sunburnt body!

Here she is in her digi format -

And here is my version of her (Shes about 11cm high on my card) -

So I did add a bit of background detail because she looked a bit weird floating on a donkey! Hope it doesn't distract and just adds to the theme! Both hats have seaside mottos, traditional ones, if you think either say something rude.... shame on you ;)

She is so shiny, it was really hard to get a nice flat photo. Normally there would be some daylight to use but the UK only has gloomy rainy weather for the rest of our lives. (Maybe a bit dramatic but ye gads I am bored of it!)

Background paper I think is Kanban, a seaside set from the dark ages. Bling from the stash. Fonts are CAC Pinafore and Wooden Nickle NF. I used a bit of white posca pen and the rest is polychromo pencils.

Exciting events starting on Dr.Digi this weekend! Stay glued to the Dr. Digi Facebook page for more details!!

Drag Queen!

Hi folks! Back again with a GDT post for Sweet Escape Digis! I love how on-trend this Drag Queen digi image is! I decided she looked most like RuPaul, so decided to colour her in a classic RuPaul lewk!

***Newsflash! I like to keep you updated with the latest offer for the Sweet Escape Digis shop, so details of the current one are - 40% off your basket using the code CELEBRATE40. If you are reading this a long time after I posted it, always pop to the Sweet Escape Facebook Page to get details of the latest offer before you buy! Top tip ;)***

I chose RuPaul's Drag Race expressions and catchphrases for the outside and inside the card. If you need them explained you might not be the intended audience ;) (Font is Dacquoise)

Here is the digistamp that I worked with (in the shop) -

And here is my version of her -

I am fully aware she also looks a bit like Rihanna (It was much more Rihanna than Ru at one point, I hope I rescued it! I love Rihanna but she sooooo wasn't what I was aiming for, lol!)

I really enjoyed two huge challenges with doing this.  A completely new skin tone and a sequined sparkly dress. RuPaul is of mixed ethnicity ( African-American, African, French and Swiss-German) and has amazing golden brown skin! I normally go with something rather more pale and pink, but it's great to be a bit more inclusive!

I added some bling to the dress after trying to replicate some sequin sparkle. I used white gel pen and white posca pen, then just a touch of stickles at the end to get in the hints of other colours.

Hope you enjoyed this card today, and appreciate something a bit different! I love RuPaul's Drag Race and you can learn a lot from it, if you are a colourist, based on how the queens do their makeup!

Not politically correct Coo.

Good Afternoon.

A quick disclaimer. I was a uncertain about posting this card using this stamp. I am "woke" to the problems of using this set. Although it seems you can still legally use this stamp set, it also appears the Sheena Douglass did not own the copyright to sell it. Thus I will not be using any of her stamps I already own on cards for sale, nor will I be buying anymore of her products. I purchased this stamp along time before the issues with her copyright theft were raised. If you don't know anything about this issue and would like to learn more here is a link to the first article I read about it and you may like to do your own research.
If I could find a link to the original artist I would include it, alas a reverse image search doesn't appear to go to the original source.  If you do know, please pop me a message, it would be nice to include it.

So here is my card using "Highland Dinner" from the "A little bit sketchy" set by Sheena Douglass.

It's a Z-fold card and pretty large, so super hard to get a nice photo of!  I used white Hero Arts Unicorn Ink and then heat embossed them using Stampendous Opaque White embossing powder. I then used different coloured Brushos, in various layers and with a heat gun, to get a few different effects. These were the three results that I liked most.

I layered them onto black card and printed out some white on black text to add some greetings to each cow.

I then created a Z-fold card blank and stuck each cow onto one side. I also printed out an area to write on and attached that to the middle back.

I actually enjoyed making this up, despite the political problems with the stamp set. It seems such a waste of resource to just bin all my Sheena stamps but I can confidently say I will no longer be buying any Sheena or Crafter's Companion products. If you have an opinion, you are very welcome to share it with me here, no offence taken if you don't agree with me using this set.
