Gnomes!

Hi all, just wanted to share a few photos from today's needle felted gnome workshop I did with my friends Helen and Kay courtesy of Lana Mutado. 

Fun course and nice not to have to travel too far for a workshop too.

Aren't the pointy hats great?! Hoping Helen will let me pop round to hers to add some ornaments to my one, we got lots done in the workshop but it would be nice to have some more time to tszug him up!  Pop to there facebook page if you are interested in doing a workshop too?

Enamelling Workshop

Just wanted to tell you about the brilliant enamelling workshop I attended at the Lappelli Enamelling Studio. Luckily for me, my friend Toni arranged it as a surprise for my birthday!

We did an hour course at her studio and I was super impressed, really well organised and plenty of help and support. Am happy with the outcome too.

I did  some trees, set against the copper background (Which is what you enamel on to) and Toni did a black enamel tile and then put a coloured waterlilly on top. (The strange white blob is the reflection and is not on the actual tile!)

Teresa mounted the pieces onto slate and wood for us, so we could go home and put them up straight away.

The Lappelli Enamelling Studio is at The Jinny Ring Craft Centre in Hanbury. I would highly recommend a visit.

Christmas Card Workshop, back in November!

This might seem like a very late post, but honestly there is a reason. Although I would love to show you what we made that day, on the day - I can't if the cards might be received by people that might see them in advance. Now we are safely past Christmas, I can assume most have been seen and I am free to post!

We actually made 12 cards on the day, so here are a few of them. Most of them had room to add extra personalisation after, so these are the cards as I used them, rather than made them originally.

Distress Inks masked background with flicked water to make snow effect. Die cut sleigh and trees. Stamped fairy lights with added bling. 3D foam mounted greeting.

Cuttlebug embossing folder snowflake background. Die cut snowmen. Spotty ribbon and tiny bling.

Artemio Type F Pinguins with Sledge Wooden Stamp. (not sure if that's just a typo, or really Pinguins with an I?) Coloured with Polychromo pencils. HA greeting stamp. Stamped snowflakes in white. Mounted on Kraft Card.

Die cut sleigh, icicles and birch trees. Distress ink sky background with water flicked on to make snow. Joy wood paper as background.

Die cut snowflake frame and landscape scene. Sky using a white correcter pen on blue paper. Embossed background with added bling. 3D foam mounted greeting.

Snowflakes die cut from top layer. 3D foam mounted onto white card blank. Same die cut snowflakes from red card set inside the snowflake shaped gaps. Add bling and stamped sentiment.

Village In A Box, Tando Kit, Workshop taught by Helen Haines.

Thought I would share some photos of my Village in a Box, now it is finally finished! This was a brilliant course that Helen (From Craft Magic Crafters) ran, last year? Was it really so long a go? Gosh. I am slow to post pics...

Though I assembled this mainly in the workshop I didn't have much time to add all the details I wanted....two hours is never enough! I purchased some die-cut icicles that I added to the houses and to the outer edge of the box. The model trees were anchored down using air-dry clay. The penguins were purchased from a toy shop! And the rosette originally intended for on top of the box ended up on the ramp/flap displaying the greeting when the box was opened.

The main change I made at home was that I extended the base of the box to include a hidden compartment for the battery pack. The underneath of the box still has a hexagon of snowy paper as a covering but there is a tiny slot for you to reach the on and off switch for the lights! Whilst two houses got a full set of lights, the final house had a few inside, to make it look like someone might be at home.




I did purchase a Momma Penguin for inside the box too but the scale was just all wrong, so she is now a figure head/handle on the lid! I used the extra die-cut icicle strips to disguise the false bottom of the box.

All done! Don't think it'll ever be for sale, too much time and energy spent to work out what the price would be :) Also....model trees are darned expensive!

Preparing for my first workshop!

Extremely nervous and excited about Sunday's Jewellery Workshop. Everything is now laid out and I think perhaps I have over done it on the beads, lol! I've sorted things into a selection of small plastic boxes, infact a lot of small plastic boxes, think they might have sent me barmy ;) Just trying to work out now what I have forgotten.... always the difficult bit :) Looking forward to seeing everyone in the cafe on Sunday :D

New sets of tools arrived this morning.
