Nips!

Another batch of catnips ready send! :) These are an Owl (Fu Manchu style), Mushroom and Fox made for a customer order. I cut the patterns from felt, sew and then stuff them with polyester filling and dried high quality catnip. (Nepeta cataria). I attach a leather tail at the bottom when I finished sewing them up.

They are from the this collection that I designed at christmas.

They are £2 each and as they are light postage is normally between £1 and £2. (UK only, I cannot send products containing real catnip abroad.) If you are interested please drop me a mail at eekbob1@hotmail.com

June Crafty Addicts Challenge Blog, Second Challenge!

Very lucky this month to have some great sponsors for the Craft Addicts Challenge Blog. This is the second challenge this month and the theme is Anything Goes/Hobbies.

The two sponsors this time are Digistamps4Joy offering $10 voucher and Robyn's Fetish offering 3 free images.

I love this Fant from Robyn's Fetish. He is called "An elephant never forgets." I added in some craft supplies around him to fit with the Hobbies theme.

So, it's polychromo pencils on kraft card again! I am addicted :) 3D foam mounted onto blank card stock, and bling in the corners :)

Kitanic!

New Digistamp on Etsy - Kitanic! - Part of the Time Out Collection.

https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/387091870/digi-stamp-instant-download-kitanic?ref=shop_home_active_1

Really trying to think up some good idea for men's cards! So you can sneak in the kitty theme but still appeal to the men in your life... or the fisherwomen in your life, if you have them... or friends obsessed with the Titanic? :)

This was the original sketch which I watercoloured too.

Sophie's Christening Card.

Don't often get to make a christening card, so it was especially nice to make this one for little Sophie.

This is a bit of a homage to Hero Arts. I've used two of their stamps here, the "Large Solid Flower" (CG248) again, (it's proving very useful), and a stamp set called "Playful Animals" (CL155), just the elephant and giraffe.

I created a batik effect for the background, heat embossing the flower stamp in white and then spraying the card with water and dropping brusho powders onto it.

The sentiment is printed on vellum and wrapped around. The font is East Coast Stationery.

I used the same batik effect for the animals, and added a tiny bit of black fineliner to make them more defined. Purple enamel dots added to the corners after.

June Facebook Crafty Addicts Challenge!

I loved making the card for this challenge and I have been waiting forever to be able to post about it :)

It's time for a new challenge on The Crafty Addicts Facebook Group. And this time the theme is as normal, "Anything Goes" and optionally "Bling it Up". My card is indeed very blingy in real life but sadly not so blingy in the photo, erf!

This challenge is sponsored by A Day For Daisies ($12 voucher to winner) and Morgan's Artworld (3 free digis to winner.)

I used an image called "Fairy Dog 3" from A Day for Daisies. I love it. Once I saw it I couldn't choose anything else. It is also perfect for a card I need to give in June, so double whammy bonus! :)

Its actually a one layer card, well, apart from the fact I decided in the end to crop it and mount it onto another card base. I printed the image and text onto card stock, masked them off and then sprayed it with Cosmic Shimmer Sprays. I then removed the masks and coloured in the dog with distress inks used like watercolours. I then added lots of Stickles glitter. So the Mica in the sprays and the glitter make it pretty blingy in real life.... not so in photograph tho! It's so cute... I kinda want to keep it. :)

Trip to the zoo!

Bit of a change from the normal crafty post and back to what I used to do, blog my "Day out" photos!
Toni and me went to Twycross Zoo for the day to celebrate her birthday. Here are some of my fav shots from the day.

Had quite a few depth of field issues with the pics, it's actually a bit of an ongoing struggle to take pictures through the cage obstructions, and a lot of the exhibits have perspex walls - nightmare for photos! Sometimes though, I quite like it when the focus is completely wrong :)

The whole focus of the zoo used to primates and primate conservation but now they also have other animals too. Animals hanging their heads in sadness, by the looks of these two! ;)

And I also get completely distracted by the wildflowers and forget to take pictures of the elephants.

Reminds me of an Audubon picture! I didn't realise til afterwards just how amazing the reflection was. Must remember to check for relection potential in future pics!

Penguins are the best! In a former life, my friend Toni was undoubtedly a penguin.

Bush dogs!  Really interested and I'm not sure I've ever seen one before? Also, prairie dogs, which are my first major zoo type memory. That had invaded all the enclosures at Chester Zoo the first time I went as a kid, and I thought they were AWESOME! I also think Tapirs are awesome but they weren't zooing correctly and were chilling out right in the furthest darkest corner of their pen.

At least all the small rodenty beasties were out in their pens and up to stuff! The big cats were a non event and a lot of the exhibits seemed to be empty. We were a bit worried they'd decided to not bother with animals at one point.

Some pics of my friend Toni. On the left, in professional photographer mode with a mahousive lense that small children seemed drawn towards, and on the right, with a real face of terror and peril at me allegedly making her go in the butterfly house. It was hilarious ;) If the butterflies had been moths I'd have felt ill too, but for some reason, butterflies are just not scary. For me anyway :D

I had a super day! Glad I have a zoo loving snap happy friend to do such things with :)
