Pix's Favorites.

Helen very kindly stamped me some of her new Mama Elephant set, Pix's Favorites. They were great fun to use and colour, I went with copics and tried a new colouring style, but I find it hard not to keep adding shadow! :)

I also tried a few new background techniques with the distress inks. I used water directly onto a blended background but moved the water to resemble clouds. The middle one is just a blend over a Memory Box Birch Trees stencil, and in the third one I filled in the background, then used the stencil and removed ink rather than added it. Makes a kind of spooky background I like! :)

So this is the watercolour cloud background, the grass is Grass Border by Lawn Fawn.

This is using a stencil in a more traditional way, tho oddly I don't think I have ever used a stencil like this before, normally I use it for paste and sprays.

Final spooky background. The sentiments on all the cards are from Hero Arts and are called "Messages with flourish". (CL738)

Love these stamps, they are so cute! :) Nice to have the chance to make some cards just for fun, and not for an order, don't get the chance much these days :)

We will miss him too.

Unfortunately my friend lost her dog this week, so I made her a little sympathy card. He was a really funny, loving, beautiful dog and I will definitely be missing him too.

Dachshund is coloured in Copics, E08, E31, E33. He and the Sentiment are from the "We Love Dogs" set by Apple Blossom (STOB0012). Paw prints are from the set called "Foot Marks" by Muji. Mounted on 3D foam and attached to a 7x5 inch card blank.

Hop Day Eight

Just interupting the flow of the hop, I had to make a card for an order! If you want to find out about the hop and how to take part, the link to the post is HERE. Today is the last full day of the hop, picking winners tomorrow on the 14th.

So onto the card order! It was a card order for a film theme birthday card for a Dad! :)

I harvested the film logos from google to make the background and then printed them out. I mounted this on gold paper. I used 3 cigarette card of movie idols to make the fan shape in the centre, and mounted them on gold too. I printed out the greeting (Little Lord Fontleroy) in a slightly curved shape and then stamped over it the Bannerific Banner from Lawn Fawn (LF339). Gold bling to finish. Not an elaborate card but it was quite short notice and needed to be mailed pretty quickly to the customer. Might actually have benefited from no faffing keeping it a pretty crisp design.

Hop Day Seven!

Just hopping on by with a very suitable hoppy type image and another link back to the ORIGINAL HOP POST incase you need to look at if for how to take part :)

I wanted to have a go at the digistamp that Helen chose for the hop, BunnyRoo! It's actually the second attempt, I have decided that grey fur on kraft paper is not ideal, and that I should mebbe do a different colour next time! :) He was easy to colour tho, quite quick, which I approve of! lol. If you don't want to try and win him for free in the hop, he is in the etsy shop for sale too.

So I made BunnyRoo into a New Baby Card, always handy to have one in the card hoard! :) He is coloured using polychromo pencils on kraft card. Sequins from the stash and the font is Mister Sirloin. I used a white posca pen to highlight their noses :)

Hop Day Six!

Another day hopping! And if you would like to take part and win some free digi's please visit THIS POST and read what you have to do! Nothing complicated, all very easy and a great chance of winning something!

I decided to have a go at colouring some of the digi's the Knitty Kitty Digi Design Team chose and test them out! I like to know how difficult an image is to colour so I can make improvements if needed. The first one I chose to do was Kitty's "Cupcake Kitty".

You can win Cupcake Kitty by visiting FT Fit Kitty's Blog HERE.
If you'd like to purchase it rather than hopping, it's in the shop HERE.

Well, I can report that it was good fun to colour in! I just made it into a simple CAS card. I used polychromo pencils on kraft card and a white posca pen for highlights. The font is Mister Sirloin. Sequins were from the stash. It's a Valentine's card for my significant other :) Yep, I am safe to post it ahead of time as it's incredibly unlikely he will check my blog! lol.

Hop Day Five!

Day five of the hop already, half way kind of! :) If you are looking for the hop post with all the details on, please GO HERE Thanks :)

Whilst I had my Kanban card kit "Keep Britain Crafting" out I thought I might knock up a couple more cards for personal use, for my partners Cousin and my BIL.

The card on the left, for my BIL, I wanted to title " Hazards for cyclists" as he is a keen cyclist and I realised I had done him a card possibly with things he hates on, lol! oops. Card faux pas! :) Hope he chuckles.

The card on the right, for my partners cousin I chose because one of her relations, Giles Gilbert Scott was the guy that designed the Red Telephone Box. Quite a claim to fame :) Wish someone in my family tree had done something exciting!

Hop day four!

Fourth day of the hop! If you would like to take part please visit THIS POST to see what you need to do and where you need to go. It's also where you need to go to comment if you want to win Kittiski! :)

In between hop things I have been making a few cards for personal use. I saw this great teapot card and thought it would be perfect for my MIL, however, because I make cards and don't feel I can use shop bought cards, I had to give it a bit of a make over!

I have a Kanban kit from 2012 called "Keep Britain Crafting" and I have to admit it's probably the most used full kit I have ever purchased. I've actually used it to make several cards for my MIL before but I am hoping she can't tell! :)

There is so much in the set it's very easy to decorate the inside too! I used Lobster Two Font for the inner greeting, my current fav font! :)

Pub Games

I admit I was tempted to just buy the Hunkydory Pub Games kit card, but as the commission's focus was more on Darts and Dominoes, I thought I better make something from scratch.

I was super impressed to find in Paperchase a scrapbooking Cards and Dominoes kit! Perfect for embellishing this card. I can't find a link to it anywhere but it was in the reduced section so is probably now old stock.

Front.

This is a stepper blank from Everycraftsapound, and I matted and layered domino paper and red paper onto it. I printed out a dartboard and added the 60th greeting, then used pieces from the kit to embellish the card. I also had a very old gambling scrapbook kit from QVC that I raided for some chipboard stickers. I added bling and stickles to it at the end.

Back.

Bali and New Zealand Bound

A quick commissioned card- a birthday card for a chap currently travelling in Bali and New Zealand. This was a island digi stamp from Make it Crafty that I added free clip art to. I coloured it with polychromo pencils.

Elements from old Docrafts and Hunkydory kits. Papers from Hunkydory and Magazine Freebies. Envelope stickers from an Usbourne Sticker Book.

Second Challenge of the Year on Crafty Addicts

Time for Challenge 33 on The Crafty Addicts Challenge Blog, and this time the theme is ATG or Add a Sentiment. The sponsor this time is the incredibly talented Julia Spiri offering a prize of two digis, or three if you take part in the challenge using a Julia Spiri image!

I have used a gorgeous digi called "Mermaid and Lotus" by Julia, it was really lovely to colour and I am happy with the result.

I might need another go at doing an iridescent tail though, I don't dislike this version but it wasn't what I was originally aiming for! I will get there...maybe copics is the way to go! :)

As normal, this is polychromo pencils on kraft card. (Or Kendal Buff if you are a paper nerd like me.) The font is Parisian BT and the added sparkle is stickles. I added some enamel bling in the corners too.
