Solitaire Saul

It's Dr.Digi friday again! And I have used one of Dr.Digi's latest digis - Solitaire Saul!

You may spot he is not playing Solitaire in my version, that's because I had in a commission for an 18th birthday card where the lad is into Python programming, so I altered what was on the screen! ( I also added a little Python logo to the cactus pot!)

I also slightly altered his clothes to make him look a bit younger! His Mum told me he often wore a black hoody (with stripes down the sides) and stone washed denim jeans! Didn't take much to do a tiny tweak on the digi so the clothes could be just right.

Here is the original digi -

And my version (you can see the changes were very minor) -

As normal I coloured him with polychromo pencils and just odd spots of white posca pen.

I paper-pieced the computer screen so it seemed to be illuminant. I added some highlights with the white posca pen to try and capture the bits of the cat and Saul that would have been illuminated.

The background paper is from the (Dec 2019) Making Cards Magazine and I used a computery looking font for the greeting, hopefully replicating the Python coding language that was the theme for the card.

Thanks for joining me today and looking at (Not so) Solitaire Saul!
Why not check out the Dr.Digi Shop to see all the new digis since you last popped in?

With great beard....

...comes great responsibility! Always loved this quote, not sure I can claim it's from Voltaire..or Churchill...or Spiderman (lol)  or who ever you attribute with the original, but...it's pretty close, lol! :D

This is Silas from Dr. Digi's House of Stamps and I have given him a magnificent rainbow beard! He is coloured just with polychromos this time.

Silas Digistamp that I have used looks like this -

My version of him (remarkably unaltered!) -

Silas also comes in some other cool formats, as part of the beer set, as pre-coloured, as a soccer fan and with his wife!

I used backing paper which was a freebie with Making Cards Magazine and the fonts Inkfree and Koulouri for the sentiment.  I added some white posca pen highlights just to the text.

I don't think I changed anything about this digi, just added texture and patterns to things and thoroughly enjoyed working on his beard!

Thanks for joining me today! If you would like to pop and check out more Dr.Digi images, please click the link below!

Dr. Demento the Dermatologist.

Happy Friday Folks! Bit of a different DT card today. I am very lucky to be able to use Dr.Digi images for cards people commission from me and I knew Dr.Demento would be perfect for a dermatologically themed card. I printed the "Demento Alone" digi onto a blank piece of white card and started to draw in the scene around him.

Firstly I added the appropriate greeting to the back of his clipboard and the words on the label of the bottle he is holding.

The customer had asked for some things to be included, like a "cure for psoriasis" and "a cure for eczema" and other things that are really tricky to spell! She wanted a mad scientist kind of vibe in his laboratory. When I had finished drawing the scene in pencil I then went over the design in black pen. Then I scanned it (in case of accidents!) and finally coloured it in with copic markers and white posca pen. I also added a bit of glitter and glossy accents at the end.

I am pleased to say the customer was really happy with it! I also personalised the inside as per her requirements and added in some extra signing space for work colleagues to add their signatures.

Dr.Digi's has lots of stamps that suit different jobs and trades, why not check out the shop next time you need to make a card for someone you work with?

Chimps!

Happy to be back today with another Dr.Digi Friday! This is Chaz the Chimp! Great fun to colour up and super handy for a "Go Bananas" birthday card!
(Was torn between my normal pencil CAS card, and shaker card filled with bananas! It'd be cool wouldn't it?)

So wanted to get a bit of a painted tire/tyre effect, rather than a completely black solid ring, was a bit worried the image would be a bit black on black on black, and a bit dreary. This is all done with polychromo pencils on kraft card. (If you are interested in how I create the fur texture there is a link to my guide here.)

Here is the blank digi image, so you can see what it looked like before and after! :)

I did go and do a bit of research to see how chimps were put together in real life. Noticing details from the real thing can give you some things to add to the digi if you like putting in extra texture and details. Hence he gained some fingernails! :D

I backed the image with some wood grain paper from the stash. Font is Mister Sirloin. Bling from the stash too. White posca pen highlights in his eyes.

Thanks for joining me on the blog today! This chap was great fun to make up into a card (for my brother's 50th!) and he's already been sent! If you would like to join us on the Dr.Digi's House of Stamps Facebook page, we would love to see you there!

Gaming!

I have quite a few card orders for computer/gaming cards, this is my go to card. I made a background some time ago using inks (distress) and stamps (freebie magazine one) and then scanned it into the PC, now I just print out the elements and assemble them each time I need a boysy gaming card.

I thought I had posted this before, but couldn't find it anywhere! So it's mat and layered elements with a bit of decoupage on the controller. And a length of some jazzy cord to act as a cable. Glossy accents to add some pop to the buttons!

Dr Digi Friday with Andy

Hello folks :) It's a fortnightly Friday slot for Dr.Digi's DT-ness and I have used Anglin' Andy.

I actually made this as a commissioned card for a friend, but then they decided they didn't want it so... I was pleased with it anyway! It felt a bit of a cheat using the pre-coloured background for him but... it was just so perfect! :D

Tried out a few new things with this one, I have left quite a lot of pencil stripe texture on his chest-high waders, It was tempting to make them completely smooth, but I stopped before the final smoothing session, was it a good idea? Love doing the fish ( Ok... it might not be a realistic looking one tho!) and thoroughly enjoyed doing a different kind of plaid shirt. (It actually looks like a shirt the intended recipient wears for fishing, was aiming for Andy to be dressed pretty much in the same clothes that he wears.)

Bit of a close up on the check details, tho it actually took a lot less time than the fish and the waders! :D So he is all coloured with polychromo pencils on kraft card and then cut out and mounted onto the background with 3D foam.

Font is Scoobydoo again! Just like how informal and friendly it looks. I added some real flyfishing hooks (they are attached by a blob of glossy accents over the sharp bit of the hook) and the twine is metallic thread, a stash item virtually older than me.

Here is Andy in the shop. And also the backing paper you can buy for him.

Thanks for reading this far! If you would like to check out Dr. Digi on Facebook and the rest of the team (new posts everyday) then please click the picture below. Thanks.

Dr.Digi's Friday

It's friday, phew! Busy week crafting! Here is my latest DT Card for Dr.Digi's and it's already posted and hopefully with the recipient now! Quick turn around for this card :D

This is "Bring the Noise" from Dr.Digi's, once again I needed a music based digi for a man's card and luckily Dr. Digi has something spot on! I had to check ACDC was ok though, I have poor music knowledge skillz.

Font is "You are Loved" and the backing paper (and little cassettes in the corners) are from Dr.Digi too and are the C30 C60 C90 Go backing paper set. (Everyone over forty will have no probs with that! For everyone else... the cassette backing paper!  lol!) As normal this is polychromo pencils on kraft. The bling was from the stash. The guitar might not be anatomically correct, don't zoom in too tight pls! :D

If you are thinking I cheated a bit, yes, you are right, I didn't fancy doing black speakers behind him with the black t-shirt, black jacket and black hair, so I left them as the digi, and as black lines, this time I only reduced the darkness of the lines for the rocker and not the speakers behind him. Did that make sense? When I print out my images directly onto kraft I always make them slightly lighter than the original so I get a bit of "no-line colouring technique" feeling about the image, and can add extra texture with my pencil over the lines! I know... I don't colour within the lines normally at all! freedom!

If you are interested in Dr.Digi stamps and want to know a bit more and keep up to date with what is going on, why not join us on the facebook group? It's the last day of the pet-selfie competition today, so why not check if you can enter ASAP!???

Dr. Digi Saucer Head!

Hi! It’s Annabel here and I am a little bit excited to share my first official Dr. Digi's House of Stamps Design Team project!

I have thoroughly enjoyed making a card for my nephew with “Saucer head”. What kind of jumpers do aliens wear? I opted for mauve stripes J I hope he makes my nephew chuckle, I certainly did whilst I was colouring him up.

I coloured him with polychromos (as usual!) on kraft card. I printed him out a bit paler than the text so I could lose the lines a bit as I coloured. I highlighted in white posca pen. Added glossy accents and stickles. And a few gel stars I picked up in the pound shop! (cheapo shopping win!)

Fonts are Adventure and Courier New.

The awesome background papers I used are from my very old stack -"All About Boys" from DCWV. It's a product that might have been expensive but is worth every penny! I thought these two papers went nicely with the digi.... but unfortunately are really hard to buy now. Good news tho you can buy some fab matching papers from the Dr.Digi shop too! Actually the Sci-fi set  is kind of tempting, and very good value.. I was tempted anyway! :)

Here he is the shop if you fancy a go too? Fabulous to colour, lots of opportunity to be creative! Want to have another go at colouring him where everything glows!!! And another go where I colour the glass dome more like a bubble. So many ideas for him :)
So pleased to be on the DT and to have the opportunity to spend alot more time colouring the Dr. Digi images! They have always been one of my favourite things to colour so I feel jolly lucky.

The Great Outdoors

You know I love colouring Dr.Digi stamps, so it was no hardship at all to colour this one up for my FIL's birthday! This is "The Great Outdoors" digistamp from Dr.Digi's House of Stamps.

I actually won this digi as part of a prize from Dr. Digi's earlier this year. I added in some background to the stamp to make even more of a scene. It's coloured with polychromo pencils on kraft card with highlights in white posca pen.

I matted a greeting on the top of the card with 3D foam pads.
