Rubber Crimbo Duckie

First post in a while that isn't a catch-up post! It's a DT day post! And I wanted to re-purpose the Rubber Duckie digistamp from Dr.Digi's House of Stamps and use him for a Christmas card. I really need to work on my Christmas card stash all year round and not leave them til December! lol.

This is a super simple card using the Rubber Duckie digi, it could be even more CAS than I did it but I wanted to share with you how easy it is to use a nicely shaped digi to make a card like this for any occassion. It's always great for using small scraps of cool papers too!

This is what the digi looks like when you download it -

Here are some brief instructions of how I made it.

First of all I create a 16x16cm square on the computer and used an overlay grid to position the ducks. My grid overlay divided the square into a 3x3 grid and I positioned a duck centrally in each section. For the middle section I pasted a small duck and added a circular "Christmas Quackers" greeting. I then printed this out and cut out the eight outer ducks (making duck shaped holes/windows).

(The red lines here are not my grid, they are to protect the digi from theft.)

(If I then only kept the shape around the ducks, leaving just silhouettes it would be very simple to create an svg file and cut it out on the cutting machine!)

I then created a grey box to cover each of the ducks and pasted it into the grid I had made. This is for the correct layout of the scrap papers underneath my ducks.

I then added some extra border to the square making it a 17x17cm card front for the card. By adding a black border on 3 sides I was able to cut it out the right size and score the 4th edge ready to make up my card. (I leave a 2 centimetre overlap and then stick it onto another blank 17x17 cm square to make the card blank).

After I had printed this out I cut out eight 4.5x4.5cm squares from christmas papers. I stuck them on each of the grey squares.

Using 3D foam I mounted the topper, with the duck shape windows directly on top of the papered squares.

I cropped out the sentiment design and reprinted it on a new sheet of paper, and then using my cuttlebug and dies made it into a 5cm diameter circle and from red card a 5.5cm diameter circle to layer it onto.

I then coloured in the duck with copics and 3D foamed it into the centre of my card.

Finished Card!

Did you like a post with more instructions and info on how I made it? Tbh, with my coloured cards the process is very obvious and simple but I thought maybe when I use the computer to make a card or a template for lots of cards, it might be interesting and helpful to share?

Dr. Demento the Dermatologist.

Happy Friday Folks! Bit of a different DT card today. I am very lucky to be able to use Dr.Digi images for cards people commission from me and I knew Dr.Demento would be perfect for a dermatologically themed card. I printed the "Demento Alone" digi onto a blank piece of white card and started to draw in the scene around him.

Firstly I added the appropriate greeting to the back of his clipboard and the words on the label of the bottle he is holding.

The customer had asked for some things to be included, like a "cure for psoriasis" and "a cure for eczema" and other things that are really tricky to spell! She wanted a mad scientist kind of vibe in his laboratory. When I had finished drawing the scene in pencil I then went over the design in black pen. Then I scanned it (in case of accidents!) and finally coloured it in with copic markers and white posca pen. I also added a bit of glitter and glossy accents at the end.

I am pleased to say the customer was really happy with it! I also personalised the inside as per her requirements and added in some extra signing space for work colleagues to add their signatures.

Dr.Digi's has lots of stamps that suit different jobs and trades, why not check out the shop next time you need to make a card for someone you work with?

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to you!

I have snuck in an extra Dr.Digi's Project so I can wish you a Happy Halloween on the right day! Here is "Spells for Beginners" and yes, I went rainbow! lol.

You might recognize this wizard from my post last friday! This time tho, he is rocking his knitted outfit instead. If you are interested in having a go at this knitted texture yourself, please pop and look at my demo for it!

It's all polychromo except for the odd posca pen glint. I added some glossy accents to his orb but tbh it looked better before, lol! Really enjoyed doing this in polychromos, rainbow knitting does take quite a while, but I wasn't bothered about how long it took this time. I also had a go at snakeskin boots, more practice required for sure!

Greeting is part made by me on the PC and part of one of the sentiments from the The Dr.Digi Halloween Sentiment Set.

If you would like to see more cool images from Dr.Digi, why not pop to the facebook group and do some serious scrolling?

It's Alice!

Happy Dr.Digi Friday Everyone! And today I bringeth you Alice! Not be confused with Alice the Alpaca!

So because I didn't stipulate which Alice I wanted to colour, my Boss (The Dr.Digi) sent me both! :D I decided to colour her up on a thank you card for the next time I need to send a thank you to my friend who is somewhat Alice obsessed. :) This Alice is part of a whole series on Dr.Digi, you can see them if you follow this link -  here.

I coloured her with polychromos and added a few drops of glossy accents and some stickles. The backing paper was from a freebie set from Making Cards Magazine. Fonts are Copperplate and Burton's Nightmare.

Here she is in digi format. And she is a bargain at only £1.50! Super cheap! She has really nice hair if you want to have a practice at Copic flicking! :)

Plenty more to see in the Dr.Digi Facebook group? Why not join us and see what the DT are up to ?

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ~ Lewis Carroll.

Tyson and Topsy

It's Dr.Digi Friday Time Again! (Did that need to be capitalised?? oh dear, lols) And this is Tyson and Topsy, which I think I won from Dr.Digi's a while back but now I'm on the DT I have a very good excuse to colour them up!

I thought it would also make a cool image for a thank you card!  They are both coloured up in polychromos (think the collar is prolly the best bit!) and I added some glossy accents to Topsy's eyes  and Tyson's nose and some bling from the stash.  Here are a couple of close up of the creatures :)

I haven't made an inner for it yet as I keep having to rephrase the inners when the card gets used, so I many as well leave them blank til they are needed! There's logic in that somewhere! Font is Crazy Girls Blond.

If you'd like to see them in digi format, here you go, and clicking the image will take you to the shop to purchase!

Thanks very much for stopping by! Lots more inspiration for Dr.Digi stamps on the Dr.Digi Facebook Page, click and join ussssss?

Desmond The Dodo

Welcome back to Dr.Digi friday, actually on a friday!! And am am very happy to share with you Desmond the Dodo!

Took me a while to figure out what kind of card to use him on. Was adding him to a get well soon card a bit harsh? "Get well soon, don't become extinct!" or was adding him to a thank you card and saying "See! Thank you cards aren't extinct!" a bit grumpy?  Then finally, whilst considering colouring him blue I realised he could be a "little bird told me" bird, just a slightly different one from normal! Perhaps you could use the previous ideas for very good friends though and hope they laugh!? (or your worst enemies! lol).

I used polychromo pencils to colour him up and a pop of bling on the backing. The backing paper is from a Making Cards Magazine freebie paper pad. The fonts are Cold Spaghetti, Lobster Two and Breamcatcher. I loved colouring him up using different textures, tho it was quite hard to combo my feather texture with the fur one and it not look bonkers! Really like how his eye came out this time, shall try and remember how I did it!

Here he is in the shop but if you do want to use him, but not the hassle of colouring him up, you can purchase him as a coloured digi too?

Lots more super projects in the facebook group if you want to join up and check them out? Sometimes getting a bit of inspiration can be all you need to get crafting!

Final Dr.Digi of 2017!

And final DT post of 2017 too! Not sure I would have believed this time last year that I would be in the DT of one of my all time favourite digistamp companies - Dr. Digis House of Stamps!??? Go me! lol.

This time I have used Davey Dunderton, for my friend Dave's birthday! * :) I might pop back and edit this post if I find out his reaction to it! It does look a bit like him, well, before his Missus tidied him up!

I had to find out a few details about his guitar, and apparently this red tiger effect is similar to what he has got. (Not sure if it is a base tho!) I suspect he might have had this T-shirt too!

Coloured him with polychromos as normal, agree blue jeans are probably wrong and black jeans would have been more accurate but.... it was more fun to colour blue! :D Added some bling to finish and a dab of glossy accents to his sunnies. The font is oddly: Scoobydoo

Here he is in the shop if you want to check out the digi:

And I should also mention, there is a kinda upgrade digi of him and his tourbus if you want to make it into a full scene, and also, if you are going the full hog, he is part of the epic Music Set (where you get an amazing discount by buying the digis as a bundle).  Don't say I never save you money! lol.

Happy almost New Year!

* This is the second time when the Dr.Digi stamps are named correctly! Like someone is spying on my life??? Please also see the aptly named Mobility Malcolm, which I made into a card for my father-in-law, Malcolm!!

It's Dr Digi time again!

Hello! It's on of those "Second" fridays again and I am back with a new Dr.Digi project!! Here is Katy the Cat Lady!! And yes, yes... I went to town on the textures and patterns like a loon!

The problem is, well it's not really a problem, that I really really enjoy colouring the Dr. Digi characters and sometimes know a skirt HAS to be in a Nana Mauve Plaid and then.....nothing else will do!
This then also happened with handmade cardy, blue rinse curls, check pattern slippers....etc.

I also had to go full furball on her cats...tho three cats is not really enough for a true cat lady, you will have to imagine all the others inside the card! :) This was the first time I had used my fur colouring method on much smaller cats, and it worked fine as soon as I was "a bit more restrained".... that is not my natural mode!

The font is Troutkings and the backing paper is from the stash. I also added some glossy accents to the cats eyes (but not her specs this time, I thought the pencil effect + posca pen worked ok without) and some stickles on their collars.

Here she is in the shop, so you can see the awesome digi!

Completely loved colouring this one! Can you tell? Not sure who I will be giving it to! I have quite a few crazy cat ladies in my life! lol.

Dr Digi DT day!

You may soon spot these post are happening in a fortnightly friday pattern, and you would be correct! I am DT'ing every second friday for Dr.Digi's House of Stamps and I am back with my second project! :)

This is Morag the Moo, and she is a delight! :D

I have christmassified her. (It's a word! Honest!) So I could use her for one of my friends Xmas cards! Really love using a digi that you might not think is for Xmas in a Christmas fashion :)

Here is what the digi looks like in the shop: (She's cheap, go buy her! It's awesome hair/fur practice doing something this hairy!!!)
So I set about her with my polychromos, on kraft (unsurprisingly) and then added on some extra snow!

I also added some posca pen and stickles to the snow, to make it extra snowy! :) The hilarious (cough) greeting is in the font: Troutkings.

I am pretty sure my friend is going to love her and if she doesn't I will ask for her back  lol. :)

Dr. Digi Saucer Head!

Hi! It’s Annabel here and I am a little bit excited to share my first official Dr. Digi's House of Stamps Design Team project!

I have thoroughly enjoyed making a card for my nephew with “Saucer head”. What kind of jumpers do aliens wear? I opted for mauve stripes J I hope he makes my nephew chuckle, I certainly did whilst I was colouring him up.

I coloured him with polychromos (as usual!) on kraft card. I printed him out a bit paler than the text so I could lose the lines a bit as I coloured. I highlighted in white posca pen. Added glossy accents and stickles. And a few gel stars I picked up in the pound shop! (cheapo shopping win!)

Fonts are Adventure and Courier New.

The awesome background papers I used are from my very old stack -"All About Boys" from DCWV. It's a product that might have been expensive but is worth every penny! I thought these two papers went nicely with the digi.... but unfortunately are really hard to buy now. Good news tho you can buy some fab matching papers from the Dr.Digi shop too! Actually the Sci-fi set  is kind of tempting, and very good value.. I was tempted anyway! :)

Here he is the shop if you fancy a go too? Fabulous to colour, lots of opportunity to be creative! Want to have another go at colouring him where everything glows!!! And another go where I colour the glass dome more like a bubble. So many ideas for him :)
So pleased to be on the DT and to have the opportunity to spend alot more time colouring the Dr. Digi images! They have always been one of my favourite things to colour so I feel jolly lucky.
