Bestie Chickens :)

Another commissioned card, I don't have any chicken stamps (well none that I could find) so I made some myself. And yes they are attached to balloons because they are birthday chickens! :D

They are now also a digiset in my Etsy shop and you can find them HERE! There are seven chickens in the set including a kite, weather vane and sqwalking chicken not shown here :)

Clouds are distress inks and a homemade cloud stencil. I added a few Joy die clouds too. The chickens and balloons are all coloured with copics.

Bunch of Birds

I felt really sad that A Day for Daisies and Sami Stamps have stopped sponsoring challenges. They have beautiful images and they are a pleasure to colour. I decided to buy the one I was hoping for for the next challenge, called Bunch of Birds. I made two layouts with it, one for a commissioned birthday card and one for a Mother's Day card.

They are coloured with, as normal, polychromo pencils on Kendal Buff Card.

Font is East Coast Stationery. Background papers from stash. Glossy Accents and Bling to finish.

A bit of GerdaSteinerDesigns.com

Helen was kind enough to stamp me some of her new Gerda Steiner Stamp Set - Hoppiness! I decided to use the fence and birds to make a Wedding Congrats Card (Or Anniversary etc). The bird is super cute and really easy to have ideas for. I am doing the bunnies from the set on another card :)

 Birds - C1, Y08, Y17, B93, B95
Fence - W3, E31, E35

This is a distress ink background with water flicked on top. The fence and birds are coloured with copics. Sequins and banner added too. I also use part of the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border diecut on the fence. Banner is in Lobster Two Font.

Cinderella :D

Really enjoyed making this commissioned card using "Frame-it Cinderella" by Bugaboo stamps. It's polychromos on kraft card and then some simple matting and layering in pinks. There are a lot of very old stash items used up in this, paper sets I have really loved and now have almost used up! :) Flowers are from Wild Orchid.

Weekend trip out!

Went with Helen to the NEC on Saturday. It was verrrrrrrry busy! Whilst we mainly went for the hobbycrafts/papercraft show we had enough energy this time to check out some of the cake stuff. They had competition cakes there, and some were amazing! Thought I would share a few photos of some of our favs!

I loved this labrador in the water! And the unicorn in the water was pretty epic too. The texture of this hedgehog on a large Alice in Wonderland cake was amazing and I am a sucker for anything with Niffler on. :)

Helen was not at all happy about the doomed bunny cake (It was amazingly made though!). The lemons were a breast cancer awareness cake.  The princess and the pea was stunning and the beaver cupcake selection were my fav cupcake deco effort. I didn't realise alot of the cakes aren't tasted, and it was really odd seeing some of the decorations with large bites taken out in the tasted section!

Thought this one was super successful, tho not as complicated as others it was so pretty!

We had a fun day out, but I'm not sure if we will go to another March Hobbycrafts show at the NEC. It's so expensive compared to the Midland Motor Museum Show and has only a few papercraft aisles these days. I suppose Sewing and Baking are more trendy now, and papercrafts is all a bit old hat? :)

Minion Kitties

Made some actual Minion Kitties (A bit like the Knitty Kitty Facebook Group Freebie) as catnip toys for my friend Helen who has just had two new cats! Oscar and Maisey :) I am pleased to report that Oscar already approves of them and so they were definitely worth sewing! :)

Carrots.

Quick post to share a commissioned card for someone who enjoys growing their veg! I used a lot of vintage images & illustrations that were free online to make this. I made a collage of them for the back image, adding some drop shadows for interest :)

Yep, same fold again, for another Man's Card, but it lends itself well to doing a card with PC generated graphics. :) Also matted and layered onto orange and then green card, with added gold bling.

Pottery Painting Day.

Last year we had a really fun trip to The Melting Pot in Bewdley where you can paint pieces of bisque pottery and have them fired. I gave my family a voucher to go again this year and  last week we went for a jolly morning glazing! :) (I've just used my instagram pics, might take some better ones sometime soon, sorry for the poor quality.)

My brother did a cannister to match his 1930's tea set.

Mum did a green and pink flowery jug.

I did two side plates (or milk saucers) with a white cat on.

It was a really great day, would very much recommend it if you enjoy doing something crafty but different from your normal hobbies.

Tiny Totoro Terrariums

What people don't tell you about making terrariums is how hard it is to get a good photo of them!  :) This has been an ongoing project for a couple of weeks, of a couple of years if you count how long I have had the jars in which to make them!

I order the figures from ebay but when they came they needed a bit of retouching with acrylics.

Recipe:

The jars were from the charity shop.
The twine was left over from the last wedding invites I made.
The charm is from ye olde bead stash.
I purchased fresh cork pieces for the base and used grass intended for Minature Warcraft set ups, easily available on ebay too.
For some of the them I used bark/twig my friend Helen kindly donated me from her garden.
I added a felt base to them afterwards too.

On the bottom of the cork lid there are glow in the dark stars which add a bit of night time interest. As yet I have not found anything glowy enough to actually light them up properly at night. I shall keep up the hunt!

I have two bigger jars to have a go at next! :)

Diesel Trains.

Another commission card, this time for someone interested in just diesel trains (not steam!!). I used the internet to search for these images, reduced them and recoloured them before creating a photo montage in Paint Shop Pro and printing them out for the card.

This card is mainly just matting and layering but I always think this fold makes this shape card more interesting. It also features in the background the recipients local station, I am hoping he spots it.
(And also also, features a train at my local station, but I don't expect him to know that, lol)

And Lawn Fawn Love You A Latte.

The image is coloured using copics and the sentiment is printed onto yellow vellum.

Ad hoc surprise challenge!

For a bit of fun and some awesome prizes we are running an ad hoc challenge on The Crafty Addict's Facebook this month. It's an "Anything Goes" challenge and the Design Team will vote for winners at the end of the month. Dr. Digi's House of Stamps  are sponsoring it for us, so you can win two free stamps too!

I have used Peg Leg Pete from Dr. Digi's to make this 50th birthday card for a friend! I love this image, it looks a little bit like my friend too, but I might not say that outloud, lol!

As normal, it's polychromo pencils on kendall buff card. The little skull and cross bones is from a very old pirate kit I have been hoarding. The font is Le Grand.

Close up of Pete and his parrot.

Back again with another Crafty Addicts Challenge Blog post and this time it's for Challenge 34 - ATG/CAS (Anything Goes/Clean and Simple).

I have chosen for my inspiraition card  "Winnie Wonderland - I'm late" featuring a very hurried white rabbit!

I have, as normal, used polychromo pencils on kraft card. I added some sequin bling from the stash and the sentiment is in the font called "Angelina".

Here he is a bit closer -
