Drag Queen!

Hi folks! Back again with a GDT post for Sweet Escape Digis! I love how on-trend this Drag Queen digi image is! I decided she looked most like RuPaul, so decided to colour her in a classic RuPaul lewk!

***Newsflash! I like to keep you updated with the latest offer for the Sweet Escape Digis shop, so details of the current one are - 40% off your basket using the code CELEBRATE40. If you are reading this a long time after I posted it, always pop to the Sweet Escape Facebook Page to get details of the latest offer before you buy! Top tip ;)***

I chose RuPaul's Drag Race expressions and catchphrases for the outside and inside the card. If you need them explained you might not be the intended audience ;) (Font is Dacquoise)

Here is the digistamp that I worked with (in the shop) -

And here is my version of her -

I am fully aware she also looks a bit like Rihanna (It was much more Rihanna than Ru at one point, I hope I rescued it! I love Rihanna but she sooooo wasn't what I was aiming for, lol!)

I really enjoyed two huge challenges with doing this.  A completely new skin tone and a sequined sparkly dress. RuPaul is of mixed ethnicity ( African-American, African, French and Swiss-German) and has amazing golden brown skin! I normally go with something rather more pale and pink, but it's great to be a bit more inclusive!

I added some bling to the dress after trying to replicate some sequin sparkle. I used white gel pen and white posca pen, then just a touch of stickles at the end to get in the hints of other colours.

Hope you enjoyed this card today, and appreciate something a bit different! I love RuPaul's Drag Race and you can learn a lot from it, if you are a colourist, based on how the queens do their makeup!

ALIEN DAY Part 4/4

The fourth and final card for Dr.Digi Alien Day and here is Xfiles Xmas Alien in his fourth and most festive get up.
All four cards are CAS cards, with a simple Xmas greeting (In Mister Sirloin Font) and here is card four!

I have to credit my partner with this idea. Just for once it wasn't my fault that I added some bits and pieces to the digi image! He made me do it! lols! All I did was print out the digi with some much paler sections so I could go outside the lines and draw in a few clothes/beards!

Coloured with polychromo pencils on kraft card with some help from a white posca pen. Once coloured I mounted him onto a 7x5 cardbase and add some stickles and bling from the stash.

So as it's Alien day, the Boss has released a secret alien code for you to use at checkout in the NEW Dr.Digi's shop!! Please commit to memory the code word "ROSWELL" and you'll get 50% off the Xfiles Xmas Alien digi! (Add digi to you basket, and when you checkout click the drop down arrow next to the "Apply Coupon Code" option and enter your code before checking out.)

So what was your favourite Alien? Let me know below!

ALIEN Day Part 3/4

This is my third project for  Dr.Digi Alien Day and here is Xfiles Xmas Alien in his third and far more prickly outfit!
All four cards are CAS cards, with a simple Xmas greeting (In Mister Sirloin Font) and here is card three!

So as Xfile Xmas Alien is probably consider a "Grey" I thought it was about time to do a grey version! But also, his skin is inspired by reptile skin!

Coloured with polychromo pencils on kraft card with some help from a white posca pen. Once coloured I mounted him onto a 7x5 cardbase and add some stickles and bling from the stash.

Have you popped to look at the new shop yet?

ALIEN Day Part 2/4

The second part of my line up for Dr.Digi Alien Day and here is Xfiles Xmas Alien once again.
All four cards are CAS cards, with a simple Xmas greeting (In Mister Sirloin Font) and here is card two!

Not so traditional Alien, in fact he is inspired by ambilobe panther chameleon! (I had to research chameleons for a card I made for Little Blue Button Stamps, and this one was my favourite spectacular finds!)

Coloured with polychromo pencils on kraft card with some help from a white posca pen. Once coloured I mounted him onto a 7x5 cardbase and add some stickles and bling from the stash.

It's ALIEN Day! Part 1/4

Or Alan day as autocorrect suggested! So helpful! Today has been declared Dr.Digi Alien Day (by me!) and I have four projects to share with you today. They all feature the Xfiles Xmas Alien and they are CAS cards, with a simple Xmas greeting (In Mister Sirloin Font) and here is card one!

Traditional Christmas Alien Styley. Yes, it's a real thing.

They are all coloured with polychromo pencils on kraft card with some help from a white posca pen. Once coloured I mount them onto a 7x5 cardbase and add some stickles and bling from the stash.

Tropical Part-tay!

It's another Tuesday post for Witt and Sass and the fabulous new stamp set - Tropical Party! Featuring my favourite Witt and Sass bird, Carmen Miranda Flamingo. (CMF)

The set has five cool sentiments to pick from and loads of extra images, so I added a little pineapple chap to my wording banner.  I also used the background building stamp called grassy hill to define the outline of the grassy mound CMF is stood on.

I coloured CMF in copic pens and some white posca pen. I added stickles and glossy accents at the end too. The background was an experiment using lace as a stencil with distress inks. I thought it looked like that sparkling-water-swimming-pool-bokeh? It probably has a proper name, but I hope you get what I mean!

When cards are very heavy, you can move them across your crafting table using tiny straw logs...just like how they built the pyramids! ;) I suppose I should now mention the MAJORLY GLITZY element of this card, the rhinestone palm tree. I know, it's a bit much, but when I saw it I couldn't resist. The dragonfly bling was in the same set.
Bling and Straws were from The Range, Background Paper was a magazine freebie.

They're quite a few of us on the Witt and Sass Design Team, people you might not already know, would you like to have a look at their blogs? I figure if you read this far, you might like something fun and inspiring to do? They are all incredibly talented bunch, I am really having to up my game!

Little Girl, with flowers!

Hi all, this is the final installment from the four part set for Sweet Escape Digis, and this is "Little Girl".

***Newsflash - Right now there are two fab offers in the Sweet Escape Digis shop you should know about. One offer is 50% off your purchase if you use the coupon code "HELLO50" within the next week. The second is five digis for $5! (Check out the shop listing for details.)You can't use both at the same time, but both are incredible deals!***

Isn't she pretty? :) I wanted to make a feature of her flowers, so I took a zoomed in picture of her bouquet and then pasted it into two strips either side of the central panel. When I placed the little girl I overlapped one of the edges slightly, to give her the appearance of being slightly 3D. I tried my best to colour the two strips to match the parts in the main digi they related to.

Also when I printed the image out I added some text using the font Teutonic. This could easily be a single layer card but I prefer to mount it as a topper and use the layering as a border.

When I finished the colouring (with polychromo pencils), I used some stickles to highlight the centre of the flowers. I added some glossy accents to her earrings so they catch the light. And finally I added some white posca pen highlights to her eyes.
This is her in close up:

And here she is in the shop if you fancy colouring her (Remember, especially whilst the deals are on, she is part of the four part set featuring all the Sweet Escape Digis I have coloured recently) :

I have really enjoyed doing this set of four stamps, they were all fun to colour, and I shall quickly use them up sending them to friends and family! Thank you Sweet Escape Digis for letting me create with and share your super stamps!

The other three images are blogged here:

Etiquette Unknown

Another commissioned card for a 12 year old who loves to dance. I decided to google search for a funky dancer digistamp and this one appeared with no watermarking but was perfect! I decided a while ago to just go and buy a digi from their online shop if I found one posted without watermarks. Took me a long time to find her but she is from Mayzy Art which seems to have closed down and I have no idea what the etiquette is now for using her. So... I am telling you where she is from and I don't own this image and I'm sorry I couldn't buy her. I wish I had found the shop before it closed because the artwork is awesome and I would have really enjoyed using her stamps but now I feel kinda guilty about it, but.... I still love it! If you are reading this and have an alternative way to deal with this kind of situation, tell me! Or if you know these images are still for sale somewhere tell me that too please. But for now, here she is -

Image coloured with Copics, added stickles and white posca pen. Blobs are Nuvo Jewel Drops. Papers from Making Cards Magazine. Font is All Hooked Up. Photo corners and paperclip numbers from the stash.

It's no longer LMMS Tuesday but....

... as I was lucky enough to get included in the New Release Mail Shot when I was a Guest DT member I couldn't resist sharing these two with you!!

I wanted to use a peruvian inspired colour palette for the fabrics and also the challenge of doing a spotty llama and a brown alpaca.  My default go to colour choices were abandoned for something less safe! And, I think it works ok?

When I mounted the card I thought the pair were disapearing into all that brown, so I cut them out and 3D foam mounted them to a topper to make them stand out.

Fonts are: DK Rosylee and Freehand 591 BT. I added stickles to the pom-poms for a bit of sparkle.

Thanks for this awesome bonus image LMMS, really enjoyed giving myself a challenge and colouring these two!

Sweet Dreams

(Cross post to LBB Blog!) Always love it when it's the 8th of the month and I can share by Little Blue Button DT pick with you! This beautiful digistamp is called Sweet Dreams!

I know this digi would be awesome for baby-congrats cards and young birthday cards but I also wanted to pair it up with a warm yet enduring proverb! It's such a sweet image!

I coloured her up with polychromos, some posca pen, some glossy accents and some stickles. It doesn't need to be limited to pinks but I thought with the gold it would add to the warmth!

Background paper from the stash. Font is East Coast Stationery. Bling from Shimelle.

Here she is in the shop if you would like to see her in digi format before I went mad with my crayoning lol! So looking forward to trying this out again in cool blues!

Why not join us on facebook and see some more of the fab LBB stamps and the design team projects?

Little Miss Muffet Tuesday Time!

It's the second tuesday of the month and I am back with a new GDT Little Miss Muffet Project, and this time I have used Luna Bitterfrost Fallen Angel.

Isn't she awesome!? And great for feather practice, hair practice and skin practice! Really enjoyed doing her pink wings but it did take a while to do. They immediately improved with some pink glittery stickles right at the very end!

It's a simple greeting because I am going to use it for a commissioned card. (Font is Bernadette Rough) The remit for the commission was pink and sparkly, and I already know that they like shoes, so hoping her outfit will appeal too! I love her boots!

Really enjoyed my second guest project for Little Miss Muffet Stamps. Luna was such fun to do, plenty of little detail challenges to get stuck in to! Hope my customer likes her as much as I do :) Fancy colouring her yourself? Here she is in the shop!

LMMS has a fab facebook group you know? Why not pop by, join up and have a chat? :) It's also a great way to find out about new releases!
