Desmond The Dodo

Welcome back to Dr.Digi friday, actually on a friday!! And am am very happy to share with you Desmond the Dodo!

Took me a while to figure out what kind of card to use him on. Was adding him to a get well soon card a bit harsh? "Get well soon, don't become extinct!" or was adding him to a thank you card and saying "See! Thank you cards aren't extinct!" a bit grumpy?  Then finally, whilst considering colouring him blue I realised he could be a "little bird told me" bird, just a slightly different one from normal! Perhaps you could use the previous ideas for very good friends though and hope they laugh!? (or your worst enemies! lol).

I used polychromo pencils to colour him up and a pop of bling on the backing. The backing paper is from a Making Cards Magazine freebie paper pad. The fonts are Cold Spaghetti, Lobster Two and Breamcatcher. I loved colouring him up using different textures, tho it was quite hard to combo my feather texture with the fur one and it not look bonkers! Really like how his eye came out this time, shall try and remember how I did it!

Here he is in the shop but if you do want to use him, but not the hassle of colouring him up, you can purchase him as a coloured digi too?

Lots more super projects in the facebook group if you want to join up and check them out? Sometimes getting a bit of inspiration can be all you need to get crafting!

GDT for Sheepski!

Very happy to be doing a spot of GDTing, this time for Sheepski Designs! Was very happy that my robin won the Sheepski Facebook Challenge and I was offered an image for GDTing in Jan!

Here is my card, using the "Freesia Vase" Digistamp from Sheepski Designs. I just took a section of the stamp to work with on the front of my card.

Image is painted and splashed with Gansai Tambi Watercolour Paints. I printed the digi slightly paler than the original to remove any harsh lines. I also printed directly onto watercolour paper. I added some yellow stickles to the front of the card.
The font is Honey Script.
I made this as a commission for a friend.

Here is the image in the shop, in full, so you can see how I cropped it. The attention to detail in this stamp is amazing!

I wish the watercolour paper would photograph better! The card looked much prettier in real life. I have a new light to use in 2018, hopefully it will change the hue a little and make the watercolour paper more white and bright! Fingers crossed.

Thank you Andrea for having me on the DT!

Thank Ewe!

Welcome to Dr Digi Friday..... on a Wednesday..... ! Oops! And to make up for the lateness here is the delightful Alice the Alpaca from Dr. Digi's House of Stamps!

Was this an excuse to do a whole beasts worth of curly hair? Yes... yes it was but... isn't she fabulous??!?? I have secretly had my eye on this digi since her release :)

I used polychromo pencils and a touch of glossy accents on her eyes and nose... and many, many hours, drawing tiny curls :)

I can't really claim ownership of the humour, it stems from this delightful ornament that I purchased because I thought it was an alpaca but the cashier was thrilled to correct me and tell me it was a lamb!

Here she is in the shop if you would like to add her to a card or project? (She's only £2!)

Background paper & Sequins from the stash. Font is Breamcatcher. Lamb Alpaca from Paperchase.(Probably for sale again next Christmas.)

Cult Pens!

After having made a blog post giving a company a negative review, I thought I should do a positive one and balance out the blog karma!

***this post is not sponsored and is purely my personal opinion and experience***

Recently I have been getting through an extraordinary amount of polychromo pencils. (Less so since the arrival of my new Westcott Ipoint Orbit battery operated pencil sharpener - recommended!).

After trying several places online, my friend Helen recommended Cult Pens to me. When I popped across to compare prices they were cheaper and on that particular occasion had a marvellous 3 for 2 offer on Faber Castell! Although this offer is now over, there often have great offers on you can take part in. (It's a free grip pencil set at the moment! Really nice quality.)

So here is the link to Polychromo Pencils at £1.19 each!

Also, spend more than £10 and you get free p&p, (Over £15 for the current offer pencil grip offer) and it's same day dispatch so things normally come next day. (And often with a extra free gift too!)

My need to test customer service has been pretty limited. The once I ordered a large amount of white polychromo pencils and they weren't in stock, they emailed me very quickly and told me they were going to hold my order until they had enough to fulfill it in one go. The time I forgot to add the free gift to my basket on check out (it clearly says to do it, I was just being a numpty) they were super polite on email and offered to send it to me anyway, with no extra charge for the p&p. On the main, the service has been so excellent, it really hasn't been necessary to do anything other than order.

The pencils come in a bubble wrap envelope, and unlike other suppliers, I don't often find the core has been damaged. I would prefer a bit more protection to the pencil, seeing as dropping a polychromo can often crack the interior, but even just in a jiffy, they seem to be fine. And as my p&p was free, perhaps expecting more wrapping is greedy!

So review over! If you are a pen geek they have an amazing selection of pens as well as the pencils I visit for. There a quite a few foreign makes of writing/crafting items and... well it's worth a look if stationery shopping makes you happy, like me :)

Online Shopping & Service Score = 10/10

Procaffinating

Back again with another cross post from here to the Little Blue Button Stamps Blog.

I'm always attracted to any digi involving coffee, cos I am a bit of an enthusiast! Coffee and colouring! This time I chose the fabulous "Miss Lilly - Coffee Break" digistamp for my Design Team pick!

I really wanted to try and give her a fun and funky outfit, and struggled a bit with the spotty dress, it was so tempting to do it in one colour and go in afterwards with the posca pen, lol!

The fonts I used are Flange and Franklin Gothic. I saved this definition of "Procaffinating" on Pinterest a while back and thought it was perfect for us coffee drinkers!

She is coloured with polychromo pencils on kraft card  and a touch of posca pen on the eye highlights. Didn't add much bling this time, only as accents on the frame. Papers are all from the stash.

You might notice I added her in a Costa coffee cup and straw? I wanted to make it reflect my coffee drinking a bit more! It would be very easy to convert the cup into whatever style you fancied tho!

Click the picture below to check her out in the shop!

Happy New Year!

Happy first day of 2018! And starting as I mean to go on, here is the first blog post of the year! Sharing with you a new release from Little Blue Button, and she is called Tea Mei!

***NEWSFLASH Please use coupon new2018 in the LBB shop for 40% off your order - valid thru January 7th 2018! and includes this new release ***

She is so pretty! I decided to find an oriental kimono pattern online and add it by hand to the image, tho it was very tempting to paper-piece it too!

I had lots of ideas for her, and I love that with a digi! I thought she would look super nice, larger but cropped, and maybe a willow pattern design on the tea pot too? I coloured her with polychromo pencils on kraft and added some stickles and sequins to finish.

The font is: Bernadette Rough, which seems to have become my "go to" font of late :) Would love to be able to hand letter like that!

If you would like to see more of this new release, and the other, pop by the Little Blue Button Blog and have a look at all the DT inspiration!
