Happy Good Friday!

Hi everyone, just sharing a couple of snaps of some Easter cards I made for a customer! Used three sets of Bunny stamps (kindly on loan from Helen).
  • Craftin Desert Divas - Somebunny
  • Gerda Steiner - Hoppiness GSD570
  • Mama Elephant - Pix Favourites

The paper is from two Perfectly Plaid Lawn Fawn 6x6 paper pads. I used a stamp by Neat and Tangled called Sunburst with Distress Oxides and Inks for the background. The grass is made using Grassy Border Die also from Lawn Fawn. Bunnies are coloured with Copics and stickles.
The greetings are from a Docrafts set called Some Bunny Loves You. (That I have had quite a long time!)

Sweet Escape, part two, with coffee!

Always happy to add Coffee to the proceedings! Today I am sharing my second digi by the new artist Amanda Siqueira for Sweet Escape Digis and she is called "Coffee".
She is sold separately but also as part of an amazing deal for a set of four images, the ones I was lucky enough to be sent to colour!

This week (26/3 - 29/3) there is also a promo code in the shop for 40% off!! Use the code SHOP40.

As normal it's polychromo pencils on kraft card. I think she has an amazing face! Such a pleasure to work with this digi and it was nice to pair her up with a cool coffee quote.

The font is Pristina. I added some stickles around her, some white posca paint to her eyes and a bit of bling to her flowers. I love doing patterned clothes (as you probably already knew) so enjoyed doing this plaid effect alot!

I cropped the image slightly for my card but here she is in the shop so you can see what the original digi looks like.

Hopefully be back in a week or so's time with some more of this set! Can't wait to colour up the next one. In the mean time, why not to pop to the shop to look at what other super digis they have to offer?

Lucky opportunity!

Am very lucky to have some new images from Sweet Escape Digis to colour up by a new artist/illustrator called Amanda Siqueira. This image is Photographer and is now available in the Sweet Escape Etsy Shop! (There is also an awesome deal on a set with her in and three more fabulous images, (that I was lucky enough to be given to colour) link is here.)

This week (26/3 - 29/3) there is also a promo code in the shop for 40% off!! Use the code SHOP40.

I coloured her with the normal polychromos and a spot of posca pen in her eyes. Font is Mouse Memoirs. I embellished with some stickles. Backing paper from the stash, think it's part of a papermania set.

It was hard to get a picture without a shine on it, so here is another with hopefully better detail!

Below is a side by side of the digi from the shop and the coloured version, so you can see how I have added to it, and what you get if you fancy purchasing it?

Absolutely beautiful stamp to work with, her hair is fabulous if you want to practice your hair strokes! I printed her out slightly paler than the original line drawing so I could add some fur to the collar of her gilet!

Very pleased to have this opportunity to work with these new digis. I have four in total, so shall be back soon with some more!

Hector on Fri-yay!

Back again with some Dr. Digi action and here is a new release, Hector the Hipster! I've also used some of the Coffee Backing Paper this time (love it!) and cut a couple of cups from the paper to make a little embelli for the front. The powered by coffee label is from the matching sentiments sheet.

Font is Scooby Doo (I can't help what it's called, I just like it!) There is also a set of toppers to go with this too (doughnuts, coffee cups, biscuits etc)

I used polychromos on kraft card as normal, and a bit of white posca pen for highlights. I couldn't resist using some glossy accents too, I can't help myself.

And I need to tell you that for just £7 (massive saving!) you can have the full "Coffee Time Set" that includes Hector, toppers, coffee papers, more papers in the doughnut set, toppers, sentiments and four more digistamps. This is, you will find, an awesome deal :D lol.

Link to the shop below in case you are kind of tempted and just want a little sneaky peek? :)

Enjoying colouring!

Really enjoyed colouring this digistamp from Little Miss Muffet Stamps! It's a recent release called Stained Glass Sunrise. Thought I would post it on what used to be LMMS Tuesday :D

When I saw how Barbara (Forgotten Scraps) had added in some corners to the curved part I knew I needed to do that too! Left mine uncoloured though, and just drew it in by hand. Loved using the copics for this, just relaxed and coloured it in without any colouring angst! I had in a commission for a churchy birthday card and thought it would be ideal. Font is Cinema Gothic BTN.

Huddle!

Just popping on to post the card I made with one of my prizes from Sheepski Designs! This digi is called "Huddle".

I just printed it onto Kraft Card, added a greeting and coloured it up with polychromos. I added some spots of glossy accents to the eyes and glasses, and some stickles and posca pen to the snow.  Font is Goudy Stout.  Paper behind is from Making Cards Magazine and the pearls were from the stash.

I took some close ups of the penguins.

Thought they were super cute and really good fun to colour. My partner told me now I have made them fluffy they look more like black and white hedgehogs! Isn't he rude? lol.

Thanks for my prize digi Andrea, I still have two more to go!

It's no longer LMMS Tuesday but....

... as I was lucky enough to get included in the New Release Mail Shot when I was a Guest DT member I couldn't resist sharing these two with you!!

I wanted to use a peruvian inspired colour palette for the fabrics and also the challenge of doing a spotty llama and a brown alpaca.  My default go to colour choices were abandoned for something less safe! And, I think it works ok?

When I mounted the card I thought the pair were disapearing into all that brown, so I cut them out and 3D foam mounted them to a topper to make them stand out.

Fonts are: DK Rosylee and Freehand 591 BT. I added stickles to the pom-poms for a bit of sparkle.

Thanks for this awesome bonus image LMMS, really enjoyed giving myself a challenge and colouring these two!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! (Well in the UK at least.) I thought I would share with you my brusho flower pop-up boxes! Both of these were made for customers.

I used a standard pop up box with matting and layering. The flowers were white heat embossed and then brushed with water. I took tiny pinches of Brushos and dropped them on. The leaves are  stamped in distress ink and oxide, then a wet brush to bleed the colour out. Papers are all from the stash! The matting and layering is the most time consuming bit of these. The pop up boxes are ready made blanks from Everycraftsapound.

Stamps are from three Sheena Douglass sets.

  • SD-LBFL-DAHL - A little bit floral dahlia (leaf stamp)
  • SD-SS-FLOW - A little bit sketchy flower power (leaf stamp)
  • SD-LBS-BBEA - A little bit sketchy Bloomin Beautiful (flowers)

Easter Chick

So I sent my brother Desmond the Dodo and he immediately asked me if there was an Ostrich. Don't ponder for too long on how this conversation may reflect on our family relationships, but I wanted to answer "Yes, of course Dr.Digi has an Ostrich"..... and ......there wasn't. I happened to mention this totes awkward issue to Dr. Digi himself and luckily........ here is Octavia!! (longest blog preamble ever!)

Isn't she beautiful? I thought I would fall back on the old "an unusual little bird told me" birthday sentiment but actually, she was probably timed perfectly for an Easter Card. Thought this sentiment might amuse one of my nephews! They will thoroughly believe I don't know what a chicken looks like.

As normal, polychromos on kraft card, I spent a long time trying to create a plucked chickeny type skin texture under the fluff, though it was lost a little when I added hairs to it. I also had to get a reference guide of a real ostrich, I am not keen on the real thing, and for some reason had lots of gaps in my recollection of ostrich details! They really do have a lot of pink going on!

Here she is in the shop, pre-colouring! She's a new release too!

Sweet Dreams

(Cross post to LBB Blog!) Always love it when it's the 8th of the month and I can share by Little Blue Button DT pick with you! This beautiful digistamp is called Sweet Dreams!

I know this digi would be awesome for baby-congrats cards and young birthday cards but I also wanted to pair it up with a warm yet enduring proverb! It's such a sweet image!

I coloured her up with polychromos, some posca pen, some glossy accents and some stickles. It doesn't need to be limited to pinks but I thought with the gold it would add to the warmth!

Background paper from the stash. Font is East Coast Stationery. Bling from Shimelle.

Here she is in the shop if you would like to see her in digi format before I went mad with my crayoning lol! So looking forward to trying this out again in cool blues!

Little Miss Muffet Tuesday going down like a lead balloon?

It's that time again! And before I start -

Thanks very much for having me as a guest at Little Miss Muffet Stamps! Gorgeous range of digis and such a lovely friendly design team and community! It has been a real pleasure to work with you all.

Here is my final project for Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this superb image is called "Feline Lead Balloon" and it makes me feel a bit on edge waiting for the pop!

Loved colouring this, worked really hard on trying to get a smooth blend on the balloon and resisted adding glossy accents to it so had to create the light and shine using just the pencils. Coloured the kitty using my normal technique for colouring fur with polychromo pencils on kraft card.

Here is a link to the digi in the shop!

I removed the sentiment that comes with the image and replaced it with something more birthday related. Fonts are Concurso Modern and DK Rosy Lee. The background paper is a freebie from Making Cards Magazine and I added purple sequins from the stash.

Although I left the balloon bare I did add glossy accents to his eyes, nose and nails. Spent a lot of time wondering if I need to add some kind of shadow for his fourth limb but in the end decided it was prolly obscured by the front leg.  A bit of a cheat maybe? :)

Loved colouring this up. Another super digi from LMMS! Would you like to see more and perhaps win some? Then check out the link below to visit the challenge blog!

Little Queen LBBS New Release

Thought I needed to experiment a bit more with how I am using pencils. This is the new release "Little Queen" from Little Blue Button Stamps and I thought she would be perfect for an altered art canvas.

Because of how much gold I have used the colours alter a lot when I am photographing her, so apologies if she looks different in each photo.  This is an approx 12"x 12" canvas and I printed her onto A4 dark blue, soft textured paper. (If I can I will insert a pic of her at this stage, unfortunately though my SD card has corrupted and now I am struggling to recover the 5000 photos that were on it, erf!)

The polychromo pencils work well on any kind of coloured paper, but the over all tone alters a lot more on dark colours. In real life, her face is much brighter as the textured surface is very smooth and reflects more light. When I had finished colouring her I cut her out and glued her onto my decorated canvas.

Canvas was decoupaged book pages, followed by gelatos, stencils, frosted paste and acrylic paint. I also added some tando shapes around her painted in gold, some reclaimed jewellery parts for buttons, nuvo jewel drops in her hair and bling to her crown. Her eyes are covered in glossy accents, makes her look a bit more sad!

She is also a bit of a work in progress, I liked her at this stage so have paused to have a think. I might add another character to the picture, perhaps some text and maybe some more 3D elements. But for now I am going to live with her for a bit and see what feels right!
